Research Associate
I had a phone interview for a job that needed a lot of technical skill, which I have from my experience. But the job description wasn't clear, and the interviewer didn't seem to know much technically, so we couldn't talk about important parts of the job. They didn't know about the research and couldn't give examples. They kept saying 'the hiring manager will know.' Then they ghosted me, and it felt like the interview was just a formality.

I talked with the Assistant Professor who reviewed my CV and asked me questions about it. It was a really chill chat. Then, I met with the Fellowship student from the lab, and she asked me about my fit with the team. She was super nice and easy to talk to. The whole thing felt pretty laid-back. A question that came up a few times was about how much time I could dedicate to their team. After talking, they showed me around their lab space.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your three greatest strengths and three biggest weaknesses?
- What do you hope to achieve by working with us?

I got an email to schedule a phone interview for the next week. The recruiter called on time and asked some basic questions. He sounded really tired, I heard him yawn multiple times. At the end of the call, he said he'd let me know within a week if I was moving forward. I sent a follow-up email the week after the phone screen, but never heard back. It's been two months now.
