I applied on-line via the company website and got a call back less than a week later. I was scheduled for interviews with two managers, 30 minutes each. I ended up interviewing with one manager for 1 hour and 45 minutes. He was very nice. I never heard about the second manager I was supposed to meet. My interviewer barely asked me any questions, but he did tell me directly, "You don't want this job." He mentioned they might call me back for a second interview, either in person or by phone, depending on whether his boss was still out of town. I never heard from him again. Two weeks later, I emailed HR for an update and was told they had hired someone else. I pointed out the position was still listed on their website, and even after 7 weeks, it remains listed. My advice is to be direct if I'm not the right fit, no need to be dishonest, it reflects poorly on the company.

I had a phone interview, basically a screening, with a senior HR person. From the start, they were rude and condescending. They weren't really listening to me, and within the first 5 minutes, I decided I wasn't interested in the company anymore. Apparently, a friend had a similar experience with the same person around the same time. I knew who the hiring manager was and thought about reaching out to them directly, but I didn't.

So, I had a phone screening with another technical writer, which went pretty well. Then, I had an on-site interview. They threw a programming question at me that was way outside the job description, and since I was just starting to learn programming, I totally messed it up. Other than that, the questions were fine. When the interviewer asked if I knew how to get my parking validated after the receptionist explained it, I knew I didn't get the job.

The hiring manager did one initial phone interview, then there were 4 1-on-1 interviews on site, followed by 2 more phone interviews. Overall, the process felt quicker and went more smoothly than others I've experienced. Everyone was professional, prepared, and polite. They mostly asked about my past experience instead of hypothetical situations, which was great.
