The interview was pretty chill and comfy. Talked to a recruiter who was nice and professional, and they asked some questions about working with others, figuring stuff out, and what I'd done before. Overall, it was a good time.

It was a virtual interview and felt more like a casual chat than a formal one. The entire interview took about 30 minutes, and they asked typical interview questions. About a week after, I got an offer.

Behavioral Presentation

I applied through a staffing company and initially had a good meeting with the HR Manager and recruiter. Then, I was scheduled to meet with the CHRO, who I felt had limited HR management experience. During our scheduled meeting time, the recruiter called to reschedule for the next day due to an executive meeting running long, offering a window between 11 am and 3 pm. I suggested 3 pm, and it was rescheduled, but upon checking my calendar, I emailed back to confirm availability between 11 am and 1 pm, even rearranging my flight. After not hearing back for several hours, I followed up via email and had my recruiter also inquire. The next day, the CHRO emailed stating they were proceeding with other candidates. My recruiter was unaware of this decision, as it was unusual. It turned out the CHRO rejected me based on resume errors, which my recruiter admitted was due to sending the wrong resume. It was incredibly disappointing to go through so much effort, only to be dismissed this way. I hope the CHRO will be more considerate of candidates' time and effort in the future.

The onboarding process included an orientation in a group setting where a lot of information about safety, quality, and production was shared. It was very helpful in explaining the pros and cons of being a traveling solar worker for the company, including the qualities they look for. They also went over OSHA 10/30 certifications, heavy equipment operator license requirements, and drug/analysis tests (swab or urine). Finally, they discussed the start date, pay rate, and expectations for the foreman and heavy equipment operator roles.
