The interviewer was a very nice lady. I was undecided between tax and audit and she help me walk through how people decide which one they wish to be. She gave me lots of sound advice.

It was a four round interview with four different interviewers over the span of 2 hours. The interviewers asked roughly the same questions which made it easier to answer each round, but did make me wonder why this needed to be segmented so. Everyone kept mentioning the same corporate events and how that showed off their company culture. When all four interviewers reference an escape room the company did, it makes me think they're reading off a queue card more than speaking freely in the moment. Finding parking was a hassle, the instructions to find it we're not as clear as they could have been. Add an extra 15-30 minutes to ensure you find it. I asked my first interviewer "Is this a predominantly Christian organization?". He said yes, but they don't push it on anyone. I'm gay so I asked a separate interviewer if the workplace was LGBT friendly. She said "We have people of all cultures here" but that "that's weird to bring up in the workplace.". That interview was the only interview to end early. Could be a red herring, it might be a very accepting workplace, but in the deep south I don't take that kind of chance.

So, there were two in-person interviews for this administrative team position. The first one was about 2 hours long with 3 people. The second one was a longer, 4-5 hour interview where I met with 7 people. It was pretty conversational and they made me feel really comfortable. The last step was a skills test, although I'm not totally sure if that's standard for all roles.

I spoke with my direct manager and their boss. We talked about the team's needs and how my background could meet them. My direct manager was focused on how fast I could learn. Their boss was more focused on me being a good fit culturally. I also met with two current team members who gave me insights into how the company worked since I hadn't worked at a CPA firm before.
