I applied online and had an HR screen. Before I got the interview invite, a colleague told me they knew I had applied. Then, I got invited to a panel interview. It felt like a lot of MCPS promotions depend on who you know and your relationships.

I had an interview with the county first, and it was a lot more intense than the interviews with the individual schools. However, everyone was really nice and supportive, and they made me feel wanted!

Behavioral Presentation

I had two interview rounds. The first one was with a random MCPS employer, a principal at an elementary school. It was in a big room with over 10 other people also interviewing with their own interviewers at the same time, it was pretty chaotic and you need to stay focused and calm. I had a binder with sample lesson plans to show and my interviewer was really impressed. The second round was with the school I was applying to. The principal, assistant principal, and grade level teachers all interviewed me at the same time. They asked pretty much the same questions as the first round.
