& Process

The interview process was quite simple. It started with a phone screen, followed by a Zoom interview, and then a flyout. Everyone I talked to was pleasant. The company's aesthetic was quite impressive and made me want to join the team. No other specific feedback.

It wasn't too long but was very technical. They asked for a lot of technical details. The second interviewer was unprofessional and asked way too many questions not related to the job. It felt more like a casual chat than a technical interview.

Applied online, then about a week later I got an invite for a phone screen. It had four search committee members, and they each asked about three questions in a row. I think they had the questions ready beforehand to keep things consistent for everyone. The questions were fair and not too hard, testing both my IT knowledge and how I'd handle on-the-job stuff. About four days after that, I was invited to come to Bozeman for an onsite interview. I could only make it in about two weeks because of work, but they were cool with that. The second interview was with the same search committee, and they asked questions the same way. It was friendly, and the questions were open-ended and fair. After the interview, we had a casual Q&A during lunch, and then I met with the Associate CIO/CSO one-on-one. Two weeks later, that same Associate CIO called to let me know I didn't get the job. I was bummed, but I appreciated him calling personally, and I thought MSU ran the interview process pretty well.

I sent in my application, which included a teaching statement and a cover letter. Everyone who reviewed it already knew me and the other candidates, so the only thing that mattered was the written application. They told me I got the job. My letter talked about why I was qualified to teach this specific class, my past teaching experience, how I've developed curriculum, and my experience working with students one-on-one.
