Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Monster Energy.
Field Sales Representative
I went through a panel interview in mid-February. The interviewers were the Region Manager, Director of Sales, and the current Field Sales Representative who had recently been promoted. It was a bit awkward because it was my first panel where someone who had held the position before was present. Before we finished, I asked them about their communication and follow-up process for candidates. The hiring manager told me I'd get a decision by Friday since they had more interviews to do. They mentioned that onboarding could take 2-3 months because of internal procedures if I were to get an offer. It's now the second week of April and I haven't heard back. I know hiring takes time, but after several weeks with no word, I assume I wasn't selected, which is fine. A simple follow-up email would have been appreciated. I hope this helps others who have experienced silence after an interview or felt uncomfortable in a panel.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
- Can you tell me about your process for communicating with and following up with applicants?
Sales Representative
It was a long and drawn-out process, which caused delays and made me reconsider the role. I didn't get a follow-up even when I asked for one. It's funny because I received an offer, but the interview experience itself swayed me from taking the job. It seemed unorganized, with too many lengthy interviews for the role.

Sales Representative
A recruitment agency contacted me for this role, and we had two initial phone conversations, which went well. The company, Monster, was looking to hire 29 people and asked for a 2-minute video introduction, which I found to be a lazy way to assess candidates. They stated they received a high volume of applications, but only 90 were received, and they were looking for 29 people. I have more experience than needed for the position, but due to my stage fright and anxiety, I don't perform well on video. Consequently, I was rejected with the feedback that other candidates were more suitable.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What relevant experience do you have?
- What are your career aspirations?
