First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Monsoon.
Sales Associate
I submitted an application. Then they asked me the same questions from the application, plus a couple more. The interviewer was nice. I felt some pressure, mostly because the interview was in a small, cramped office that was messy and didn't have much room.
- Could you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Director of Business Development
I applied online and then a recruiter from the company reached out for an initial phone chat. About two weeks after that, another HR person got in touch for a more in-depth phone interview. Roughly two weeks later, I was contacted by yet another HR rep who wanted to schedule a call with the hiring manager. The chat with the hiring manager went pretty well, and he was really clear about the skills and experience that mattered to him. I decided about 10 minutes into the interview that this wasn't the right job for me or the kind of place I wanted to work. The company seems to be in a bad way, with its current products becoming less relevant in a market that's shrinking. They really need to find new ways to make money or get more out of their existing products.
- What strategies would you propose to increase revenue from our current product line?
Sales Manager
I had a first call with the CEO who wanted to vet me himself, then I was invited to the office to meet the team. The in-office interview started with the CEO, then the Sales/Implementations team, and finally a Product Manager. After that, I had another call where they invited me to the final stage. The final stage involved receiving a few written questions tailored to my experience and the interview. After my references were checked, I got an offer.
- Can you recall a time when you regretted a sale you made? If so, what would you have done differently?
- Describe an instance where you've optimized a process in your sales workflow. What was the optimization, and what impact did it have on your team?
Sales Assistant
It was a friendly interview with a great personal approach. They asked fashion-focused questions. It was a customer-centric, scenario-based interview that felt very conversational. I met the team, and the manager was welcoming. I was asked to provide examples of outfit styling to help customers and how I would be driven to upsell other products to enhance the experience for the customer.
- Can you describe Monsoon's style?
- Give me some examples of how you'd style outfits for customers.
- How do you approach upselling products to improve the customer experience?
