First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Monroe Community College.
Administrative Assistant
The interview process was very professional. I applied and heard back within a few weeks. They were super flexible with my schedule to make something work. The questions asked were fair and clear. After the interview, I heard back within a couple weeks.
- In your opinion, what impact does mccc have on the community and its students?
Tutor
The interview happened over Zoom. It started with normal interview questions, but then we did case studies for most of the hour. Make sure you are ready to answer questions about many different tutoring situations.
- In your own words, what qualities or skills make a successful tutor and why?
Full Time Tenure Faculty
It was a zoom meeting, 3 department faculty and a secretary were in the meeting, asking straightforward questions.
- What would you do in class if a student...?
- Tell about your teaching motivation.
- Tell about diversity approach.
Assistant Professor
The initial interview was a 15-minute phone call, like speed dating, where they asked 5 scripted questions. I was then invited for an on-campus interview. For this, I had to prepare a classroom presentation. During the on-campus portion, they negatively portrayed the student population, role-playing as students to test my ability to handle difficult classroom situations. I felt it was a waste of time and questioned their hiring intentions.
- How would you handle a student attending class under the influence of drugs or alcohol?
