First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Monoprice.
Sales Manager
I got a call from the recruiter late Friday, and they wanted to do a phone interview first thing Monday. After that, I had the interview and they quickly scheduled me for an in-person interview. Then, the hiring manager called me and told me exactly how to prepare and what to say, which was strange. I did exactly as he said, but they ended up hiring someone internal. I really feel like Monoprice already knew who they wanted to hire and just interviewed me to tick a box. To make it worse, they never even called or emailed to let me know they went with someone else. When I called the manager to ask, he said they were still deciding, probably too afraid to tell me I didn't get the job. It was really unprofessional and disappointing that companies like Monoprice do this. I never got an update after the onsite interview.
- Can you outline your sales plan for the first 30, 60, and 90 days?
Account Manager
The interview process was very smooth. I had a panel interview with the Director of Sales, an Inside Sales Manager, and HR. I was contacted within 3 days of applying. After the interview, it took about 2 weeks to get a response from HR. Then I got a congratulatory email with a formal application to complete. The day after I sent it back, the HR manager called to discuss compensation. Three days later, I received a formal offer via email.
- If you were hired, what kinds of accounts would you target?
Software Developer
The first phone screen was good, but the onsite interview was a terrible experience. The onsite interview itself was 2.5 hours, not counting travel time. I was ultimately not offered the job because I didn't have recent experience with some of the technologies they asked about. It was clear some of the interviewers hadn't prepared because they were asking questions that were already on my resume and could have been addressed in a second phone screening. It felt like a waste of my time!!
- Tell me about your experience with systems not listed on my resume
- When was the last time you used certain technologies?
Inside Sales
Met with the Director of Customer Relations and HR. They asked me about my background and my current job duties. We also discussed my strengths and my potential career path over the next 3-5 years.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you tell us about your background and what you do in your current role?
- What do you consider your strengths to be?
