Sales Associate
I applied for a Sales Associate job and was put through a 3-round interview process that felt way too long. Three rounds for a basic entry-level sales job is just too much and shows they don't respect people's time. It seems like the company isn't focused on being efficient or hiring the right way for this kind of role. I wouldn't suggest applying if you don't want to spend a lot of time on interviews when other places can figure things out faster.
- Why are you interested in working with our company?
Sales Associate
The interviewers were nice and the head office is a nice space. The exercises were fairly straightforward. You are asked to complete a task with at least 6 other people in the room and you can all jump in and discuss with each other, which is nerve-wracking but predominantly all women in the room who seem to want to do well and have their own interests. You go round the room introducing yourself and are asked what you bring to the table.
- Given the opportunity, what unique contributions would you bring to this role?
- How would your background in law be beneficial for this specific sales position?
Sales Associate
I was emailed for a group interview trial shift in LONDON, even though I'm from Birmingham. I still went, and had to wait 2 weeks for a response. I wasn't selected because I wasn't a 'good match' for the store, and this was for a Christmas temp position. I've been selling jewelry since I was 16. During the trial shift, we got a quick brief on product names and types, and I tried to learn them in 20 minutes. Then we went to the shop floor, and it felt like the staff were competing. Whenever I tried to help a customer, another staff member would jump in and take them away before I could offer further help. The staff seemed really focused on commission, and stealing customers from each other doesn't show good teamwork. By the time they got back to me, I was already working my 4th shift somewhere else. Not impressed with the hiring process. At the end of the trial shift, I had another interview with the manager, which I wasn't prepared for.
- Tell me about a time you exceeded expectations.
- What's your approach to handling challenging customers?
