This was the longest process I've ever been through, with many steps and the longest case presentation I've encountered, spanning 3 parts and lasting 2 hours. Everything was clear and managed well, just lengthy. The team seemed very nice.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was really thorough and professional. Evin was great at keeping me updated on what was happening next. The interviews felt personal but were relaxed enough for me to be myself. The challenge interview was well set up with lots of prep guidance, and talking with Nikolai was super helpful to understand the presentation context. It felt like they looked at all my skills to decide. I felt good about joining, knowing I was set up to do well. The company culture really came through, which I liked and made accepting the job easy.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn and had an initial 30-minute phone screen to discuss my background. Following that, I had another phone screen with the hiring manager, which was more in-depth about my experience and tech skills, and felt pretty relaxed. The next step involved a case study with a peer, focused on understanding databases and job-related use cases. This was surprisingly casual and a good chat. Then, the recruiter set up a final interview with the hiring manager, director, and the peer from the case study. For this, I was given a presentation template to conduct a mock client discovery and onboarding call, which included asking discovery questions and setting up a MongoDB Atlas cluster. There were 10 minutes after the presentation for feedback. I received feedback on my meeting presence, discovery questions, and tech skills, but noted areas for improvement in building rapport initially and with the Atlas demo. The recruiter informed me within a day that I wouldn't be receiving an offer. Despite not getting the job, the interview process was efficient, taking about 2-3 weeks, which is faster than many companies' multi-round, multi-month processes. However, I found the mock presentation prep demanding, especially when still learning the product, feeling those skills could be learned on the job.
