I went through three interviews. First, I spoke with someone in New York. Then, a recruiter in Ireland called me, and after that, I had a chat with a manager in Munich. All of these went well. The last interview was with a person in Pozzuoli, Italy. That one was rough. I felt off from the start and knew I wouldn't get it. I used to think MongoDB was great, but after talking to that person in Pozzuoli, I'm not so sure anymore. It was humiliating. They talk a big game, but that experience makes it hard to see MongoDB as a good company or a good place to work. Good companies don't have people like the guy from Pozzuoli who seem to enjoy being unpleasant. This interview was right before Christmas, and that guy from MongoDB totally ruined my holiday by making me feel bad.

To get an onsite interview, you first have to clear a telephonic interview. The telephonic interview mainly focuses on basic HR questions and your subject knowledge like Java and Data Structures. After that, there are five rounds for the onsite interview: a group discussion with 8-10 students on a current affair/technical/non-technical topic, a coding round with 2 questions on Data Structures and Algorithms (lists, trees, graphs, strings, arrays) in a language you're comfortable with, Technical Round 1 where they discuss your code from the previous round and ask related questions, Technical Round 2 with in-depth questions on various technical domains (data structures, OS, computer networks, Java, databases, joins, SQL), and a Manager Round where I had to give a presentation on a MongoDB feature (this might differ for you). Finally, there was a virtual interview with the VP of the Global team, followed by the offer. The entire process was well-organized, and candidates were well-informed, making the process transparent and distinct. Free snacks were provided all day.

The process included three technical interviews covering software engineering, databases (like migration, ACID, and BASE properties), and Linux. These also had practical communication parts. Then there was 'The Challenge,' where I had to present a technical topic to a group to assess my technical knowledge and communication skills. Finally, there was a non-technical interview with the hiring manager. It was a good experience overall; I felt respected, and the teams made an effort to make me comfortable. They value honesty and seem to live by their company values.
