I sent in my application online for a US job. They then sent me a bunch of questions about my experience with distributed systems and microservices, the usual behavioral stuff. After that, I did a HackerRank test and had a first interview that went well. Then they asked me to fill out another form, which I did and sent back right away. But then they emailed saying they weren't moving forward because I didn't respond. I sent them proof I did respond, with screenshots and everything. A week later, they said they'd proceed with an in-person interview. But then they asked if I could relocate to Malaysia, which wasn't in the original job posting. I applied for a US job and only found out after a month of interviewing that the job actually required relocating to Malaysia. Sadly, I had to pull out. It was pretty frustrating because they weren't clear about where the job was located.

We'll start with an HR screening, followed by a 1-hour HackerRank technical test. If you pass that, you'll move on to a technical interview with a senior developer. After that, there will be another interview with a lead engineer and the engineering manager. If everything goes well and an offer is made, you'll have a meeting with the director of engineering and HR to go over the details.

Applied online via the applicant portal on Dec 20, 2024. I have a background in Android development. Although the job description mentioned native iOS/Android developers could apply, I didn't get a screening call initially. On Jan 11, 2025, I took an Online Hackerrank Assessment and cleared it. This was followed by a Live Coding Session on Jan 21, 2025, which I also cleared. Finally, on Feb 07, 2025, I had an Interview with the Hiring Managers and cleared that too. Immediately after, I got an email from TA saying I'd be updated within 5 working days, which felt positive. However, after waiting 5 working days, I emailed TA for an update but got no reply. On Feb 24, 2025, I received an email stating they decided to move forward with other candidates because I lacked in-depth knowledge of React Native and hybrid development. My honest review is that they knew my expertise was only in Android from the start on Dec 20, 2024, yet they proceeded. I didn't misrepresent my React Native skills on my resume. I feel they should have rejected me earlier, rather than making this the reason after 2.5 months and multiple interviews.
