The overall process really looks at how you've shipped great products in the past and your thought process for assessments. It starts with a short interview, then a take-home assessment if you pass that. After that, you present your take-home assessment, and finally, you interview with the hiring manager.

The interview process involved an initial HR contact and then an assessment interview with my future superior and another PM. The HR contact was disorganized, with slow replies and messy scheduling, including last-minute cancellations. The case study and task provided were very brief and lacked detail. I had to travel to KL for the interview because HR refused to conduct it online, and they did not offer travel cost reimbursement. I had to redo my assessment because they were looking for a sales pitch instead of a product management approach to the given tasks. The entire interview took 2.5 hours, which felt like a waste of time. I felt my potential superior had less experience in key areas like user research, strategy, and agile methodologies compared to me. The case study was framed more as a sales pitch, with a focus on feature details rather than solid approaches and valid methodologies for solving the problems. They seemed uninterested in my presentation because it wasn't what they expected; I avoid fabricating user value and relying solely on assumptions and secondary research. Consequently, my presentation lacked the detailed aspects they desired. I noticed my presentation wasn't thoroughly reviewed beforehand, despite sending it days in advance. HR showed clear disinterest, even eye-rolling when I asked questions about company processes and challenged them, which was highly unprofessional. The questions were primarily focused on assessing my ability to fit into their existing system and withstand pressure, rather than evaluating my potential to improve their struggling company and products, a fact they even admitted. The interviewers also mentioned existing apps with similar functionalities but couldn't name any.

The HR person was nice, but I can't say the same about their colleague who interviewed me. They were late without apologizing, didn't introduce themselves, and didn't even turn on their camera. It was distracting because it seemed like they weren't really present during the interview, like when I'd answer a question and they'd ask it again. The whole process felt like just checking off boxes. Maybe they weren't properly briefed on the interview, but halfway through, I started questioning if this was a team I'd want to join.
