The interview process was pretty smooth. It mostly focused on my experience in care and what I see for my future. They asked me questions about how I'd handle specific challenging situations, and I used the STARR method (situation, task, action, result, and reflection) to answer them.

So I had an initial call with HR, like a phone screen. After that, the hiring manager called me to set up an in-person interview. It was scheduled for the following week with two managers from the department. They were pretty nice and made me feel comfortable. They had some questions ready and asked them one by one, writing down my answers. After going through their questions, they mentioned they had a couple more candidates to interview and would get back to me soon about their decision. They also mentioned they would do a background check.

The interview kicked off with introductions. What stood out was the apparent lack of prior interaction among the interview team members before they focused on me. They seemed disengaged and unhappy. Their formal address to each other made me realize their leadership team didn't seem to know I was also evaluating them. I'm not sure why they interviewed me, as it seems they were seeking a skillset I don't possess. It felt like a waste of everyone's time and resources.

The whole interview process was pretty thorough and took about a month to complete, covering everything from background checks to drug screening. There was a 2-hour in-person interview that included questions and a skills test, plus a personality test. Your background and education are really important because the questions focus on how much you know about working in Mental Health.
