Systems Developer
First, I had a quick call with a technical manager. Then, I went to the office for a coding challenge with a team member. This was a 30-minute conference call where I had to solve about 5 short python problems on their laptop. About two weeks later, I had to go back for another coding challenge the next day because they couldn't decide. This time, the problems were longer, and the team member worked on them alongside me. I finished them before they did, and then got a tour of their data center. I asked when I'd hear back, but got no answer. Shortly after, I got an email saying my python skills were good but I lacked 'real world' experience and they'd be back in touch. Two weeks after that, I reached out again, and the manager said HR should have contacted me, but they hadn't, and they hired someone else. I asked for feedback professionally, but the manager never replied.
- Did you use python-sockets for capturing and monitoring low-level network traffic?
NOC Technician
They gave me a quick tour of the office and NOC center, then I sat in a conference room with 2 managers. They talked about what they were looking for and the company's niche. Then they started asking about me. I often suspect age discrimination but this was the first time it was actually mentioned albeit in what I I considered to be an honest way. They said the average age in the NOC was 25, how would I feel about that and how well do I think I'd get along with them.
- They administer a multiple-choice technical quiz in writing, which they claim isn't for passing or failing but rather to gauge your strengths and weaknesses (whether you believe that is up to you).
- How would you feel about the average age in the NOC being 25?
- How well do you think you'd get along with a team where the average age is 25?
NOC Engineer
It was a basic networking knowledge and industry terminology test. They also asked standard interview questions. Salary wasn't very negotiable, they already had a set number. After my face-to-face interview, I'm not sure if they would have called me back if I hadn't followed up for a final decision.
- What are your career aspirations for the coming years?
- What makes you a good candidate for this role?
- How would you rate your skills in different areas?
Cabin Crew
Submitted application online, then had a phone screening with questions about the company and my motivations. After that, there was a 2-on-1 on-site interview in London with more in-depth questions about the company and why I want the job.
- Could you describe excellent customer service?
- What does Eurostar mean to you?
