Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Moma.
Intern
I had two interviews with supervisors. The first interview consisted of two separate 30-minute calls with each supervisor individually. The second interview was a panel interview with the same team members. They asked me questions about my relatable work experience and described the role.
- Tell me about your favorite exhibition.
Intern
The interviewers really seemed to know what they were looking for in terms of profiles and were driven by individuals. So, do your research. They want people who are very academic, well-connected, representative of various voices, and heavy on scholarship.
- Tell me about your interests and experiences in art.
- What unique contributions can you make?
- How does your academic background align with the specific needs of the department?
Fellow
I went through a two-part interview process back in 2006. It was really thorough, and the interviewers were super supportive, genuinely invested in my success. I remember the questions being very direct and easy to understand, and the communication style was very collaborative.
- Can you introduce yourself and share your interests?
