First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Molecular Templates.
Manufacturing Associate
The interview process was pretty straightforward, not too technical. It was a while ago, but they did give a tour, and pretty much the whole team met me. The main challenge is to secure a fair offer and the position that truly matches your worth.
- Can you share your background and previous experience?
- What do you hope to gain from this position?
- In what ways can your experience benefit our team?
Protein Purification Scientist
I sent in my application at the start of the month. About two weeks later, I got a response. If you don't hear back, they usually call to update you. The interview was really in-depth. The recruiter was super thorough. They ask questions specific to the job and go over your answers to confirm you're a good fit. Honestly, she was very professional. I felt like she was on my side. Lots of positive things to say.
- After reading the job description, do you feel confident in your ability to perform the required tasks?
Director of Strategic Planning
After positive chats with HR, I was invited for an in-person interview. I met with the hiring manager for about 30min. Then I was given 3 complex questions to answer in 1 hour, the kind of questions that could take days or weeks to answer properly and need more than just internet research. I explained this to the hiring manager when he came back. I know what this involves from my consulting days, having answered these exact questions for a similar indication for a top 10 pharma company almost 4 years ago. After almost 3 weeks of no contact, HR sent a generic email saying they chose another candidate. I asked for feedback, but got no reply.
- What's your approach to valuing their lead compound for a complex indication?
Research Associate
It was a panel interview where they asked me about my past work, why I applied to this company, and my 5-year goals.
- Where do you see yourself in five years? What specific work do you enjoy, and if you had your own lab, what would you research?
- What kind of work do you like specifically?
- If you could do anything and had a lab of your own, what kind of work would you do?
