So I had this really strange interview. It started with a virtual assistant or ops coordinator setting up a chat, and then I spoke with the hiring manager. The whole time, she was reading from a script and asking super generic questions, even about my hobbies. She even said something like 'at least you don't play video games' even though that's one of my hobbies I didn't even mention, plus she made a few other odd/negative comments. The whole vibe was just really off, and I never heard back from them.

Disappointed that while the process "transparency" was noted several times. But in the end the process was lacking. I had to reach out several times after expending time and expense to meet in person in an office several miles away, and after their internal notification deadline was passed. Please be considerate: Before asking people to invest in a process and touting certain items, please think about your process (including but not limited to your process, decision deadlines and communications) overall to avoid awkwardness and the unnecessary disappointment that came about.

Behavioral Other

My interview experience with ModOp was really disappointing. First, there was an HR interview that was all about cultural fit, plus some behavioral questions and they gave a quick rundown of the company, the job, and the benefits. They also asked me about the experiences and skills on my resume. The interview seemed to go fine, and they said I had most of the qualifications. The interviewer said I'd move to a second round. But then, nothing. I heard back zero after the first interview. Two weeks went by with no update, even after I sent a follow-up email. It was frustrating because they specifically said they keep candidates updated, which wasn't true at all. It felt unprofessional and disrespectful given how much time and effort I put in. It made me question how they treat potential hires and, by extension, their employees. They also mentioned having a 'family culture,' which can sometimes be a red flag for a toxic workplace. I ended up feeling discouraged and wondering if this company is even worth it. I'd tell others to really think about whether this company aligns with their values before applying.

I applied for the Junior Graphic Designer role via AIGA. The interview process involved a portfolio review with the project manager, design director, and some other designers. We walked through my favorite projects, about 2-4 of them, discussing the design rationale behind them. I also had the chance to ask questions about the company.
