Operations
I was approached by a recruiter and after an initial call with them, I was invited to another interview. The hiring manager was unavailable, so I met with someone else. The interview felt awkward, and I was told we only had 27 minutes, which made me feel rushed. They didn't ask about my experience or how it would apply to the role. I also felt like my answers clashed with their past experiences, and the interviewer seemed uninterested and not open to talking.

Software Engineer
A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and I sent over my resume. After we talked about my past work, they thought I was a good fit. Then, I went through four rounds: first, the hiring manager screen where we talked a lot about my projects and I did a LeetCode easy question. Next, a coding round where I got a LeetCode medium problem and had to use the team's programming language. After that, a system design round where I had to map out requirements, draw a basic design, and chat about scaling tradeoffs. Finally, a behavioral interview with a PM about how I work and collaborate. I got good feedback at each step, but they didn't end up offering me the job because they said I lacked experience in a specific tech, which was weird since they never asked about it. I told the recruiter I did have the skills and offered to do more interviews, but haven't heard back. It's strange because I've interviewed a lot and this was unique, especially after getting the green light from both the recruiter and hiring manager.

Product Designer
I started with a quick chat with the recruiter, under 30 mins. They mentioned the hiring manager wanted to chat, which was a nice surprise! That next call was really great. We clicked and talked a lot about our backgrounds, careers, and the company's future plans. Then, we went over my portfolio. The hiring manager had clearly looked at my case studies and asked really good questions, making it feel like a natural design discussion. He told me I'd be moving on, which was cool. I decided not to continue though, not because of the company or people (they were awesome!), but the role itself wasn't the right fit for me. If I had gone further, there would've been a case study with an engineer and designer, a stress test with an engineer and PM to see how I handle tough stuff, a 45-minute design challenge focusing on problem-solving, and a final chat with the hiring manager. Overall, it was a really good experience. The company has big plans and some super smart, thoughtful people working on them.

Engineering Manager
A recruiter from MNTN reached out to me. The interview process was pretty standard: first a chat with the recruiter, then the hiring manager for a quick intro, followed by several rounds of formal interviews with team members. What stood out was how professional the recruiting team was. They provided a detailed breakdown of what to expect in the interviews and even the interviewers' LinkedIn profiles, which really helped me prepare. They also sent text reminders for the schedule before the interview day. After the meetings, they were quick to follow up and schedule the next steps. Honestly, MNTN's recruiting team is the best I've ever dealt with, and it definitely played a part in my decision to accept the offer, as the people team often reflects the company culture. All in all, it was a great interview experience, and I'm excited to join the MNTN team!
