First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mitsuwa Marketplace.
Clerk
The interview was super chill and not stressful at all. They mostly asked about stuff on my resume, like my past jobs, school, and availability. Just a heads up, there are a ton of people applying, so you gotta make yourself stand out!
- What's your motivation for wanting to work at a market?
- Could you tell me about your customer service experience?
- How would you differentiate yourself from the other candidates?
Meat Department
It was a pretty simple interview. I met with the store manager and we talked about my past work experiences and job skills. The manager immediately told me the pay would be $8.25, saying I'd get raises later, which I found out wasn't true.
- Are you an organized person?
Cashier
I applied by walking into the customer service desk and got a job application form. About 2-3 days after I submitted it, I got a call from Mitsuwa staff to set up an in-person interview with the manager. The manager was really nice and easy to talk to. He looked over my application and asked me to talk more about my past work. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. He told me that if I didn't hear from them exactly two weeks after the interview, I didn't get the job.
- Do you have prior retail or cashier experience?
- What is your motivation for seeking employment in this role?
- Do you enjoy Japanese cuisine?
Grocery Associate
I went through one interview for this role. The manager was super friendly and asked me a bunch of different questions about my grocery background and also about learning Japanese.
- How long have you studied Japanese?
