The interview process involved three stages. First, there was a 30-minute phone call with the recruiter. Second, a 30-minute video interview took place with the team supervisor and assistant manager. Finally, there was a 1-hour onsite interview with the team manager and the customer service general manager. This onsite part included an initial 15 minutes with the team supervisor and assistant manager from the previous interview, followed by 30 minutes with the team manager and CS GM, and concluding with a 15-20 minute office tour with the recruiter. The process was straightforward with good time management in each interview, allowing ample time for questions. I was kept informed about my status, receiving updates within a week after the first interview, the day after the second, and two days after the third. Overall, it was a good experience.

I interviewed with HR for the senior finance role and all comp (base and bonus) was aligned. However, the day before the hiring manager interview, HR notified me with an attempt to reduce my base and salary comp. This behavior, squeezing a candidate on comp the day before the hiring manager interview, is disturbing and unlike anything I've experienced in over 20 years. I can only imagine how employees are treated at MISUMI USA.

So I had two video interviews. The first was with a recruiter, mostly about the role itself, they did most of the talking. The second was with an engineering manager, more about my background and how I am as a person. Both went well and they said I was moving on after each. But then, after the second interview, they decided to stop the process.

Applied and got contacted for an initial phone interview right away. Had a good call with the HR Manager, who then set up a call with the VP of HR the same day. That call also went well, and the HR Manager followed up the next business day to schedule an in-person interview. They move fast if they like you. We set a time for later that week, but she had to reschedule. The new time didn't work, so we split the interview over two days. Met half the interviewers one day and the other half the next. Met everyone in HR and two Directors from other departments because I'd be hiring for them and working on TA strategy. Everyone was professional but personable, felt comfortable. A few business days later, the HR Manager called to say they went with another candidate because that person had two more years of TA experience, even though I had more experience than required and the interview went well. Totally understandable. The position and other HR roles have since reopened, 2.5 months later. It was a pleasant experience, but I wish they'd been more upfront about what they were looking for, especially since I rearranged my schedule twice, am employed, and spent several hours there.
