I got a call from MSSU about an opening for Director of Academic Support Services. They mentioned the job needs a masters (doctorate preferred), five years of experience, student affairs background, and college teaching experience. The salary was stated as $48,000, and it wasn't negotiable. I felt it was unprofessional they didn't post the salary and don't pay competitively, so I told the caller I wasn't interested.

I applied online and then stopped by to introduce myself for an informal chat. A week later, I got called in for an interview. I met with my supervisor for just five minutes before being introduced to another employee for the main interview, which lasted about 20 minutes. I heard back about two weeks later via a casual phone call from my supervisor, not the company.

First, there was a phone interview with the director supervisor in the department. Then, an on-site interview that lasted about 6 hours, which also included lunch with the supervisor, department chair, and dean. The candidate was given the skills to instruct on at least a week before the on-site. The on-site portion also included a full class instruction (50 minutes) which was a class observation, complete with handouts and activities.
