First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mission Foods.
Maintenance Technician
They asked specific questions about experience, salary, shifts, and other things. It wasn't too long and the interaction was pleasant. Details about the shifts were missing. Salary information was a bit confusing. Everything else was fine.
- What are your salary expectations and availability for shifts?
Supervisor
- Could you describe your experience?
- Are you available to work overtime?
- Can you tell me about your family situation, considering the move to another country?
Maintenance Mechanic
The interview was uncomfortable and unexpected. I was told that I would be spending every weekend at work all the time, along with either early call-ins or late shifts depending on their needs. These would not be scheduled and would likely be spur of the moment. The manager who spoke, not with very good English, asked if I spoke Spanish. When I told him I didn't speak Spanish, I failed to tell him I wasn't stupid and that I actually understand most of what I hear in Spanish. They weren't very discrete at all about their comments. Since I am actually Mexican, I found it to be quite racist there, and that made the interview even more uncomfortable. Walking in there was like leaving the US and entering a backward country within our own.
- Do you have experience welding Stainless steel?
- Are you familiar with heliarc welding stainless steel?
Human Resources
The interview process was longer than usual. I spoke with 3 different hiring people. They asked a lot of questions about payroll, leaves, safety, and employee relations. All the people I interviewed with were welcoming and had a positive attitude.
- Tell me about your experience with employee relations.
- What's your background in payroll?
- What makes you want to pursue a career in HR?
