First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mission BBQ.
Service Representative
It was a 2-step interview process. First, I spoke with a servant heart leader, then with a general manager. It was behavioral questions. They asked a lot of your common interview questions, but you don’t have to have a ton of experience, just passion.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Service Representative
First, we'll have a phone call to chat about your availability and any past restaurant experience you have. If that goes well, you'll be invited for an in-person interview. For that, make sure you can talk in more detail about your skills. Most importantly, we want to hear why you're interested in joining our team and what you like about our company's mission and values. Showing you're passionate about supporting our Police, Firefighters, and Military personnel is a really good look!
- Can you share some of your workplace weaknesses or flaws?
Cashier
It was a two-interview process. The questions were pretty basic and similar in both. First up, an assistant manager interview where they'll ask for references, and they DO call them. After checking references, a second interview with the store manager is set up, who will then offer you the job.
- Tell me about someone you admire and the reasons why.
Manager
It was a 2 phone interviews process, then a meet and greet, followed by a 3-day unpaid stage where I had to prep in the kitchen. I was told I would hear back in two weeks, but I had already found another job by then. The salary offered didn't seem to match the time investment required for the interview process, especially for a $60k management role. While most of the staff were friendly, one of the newer 'area' managers had a bad attitude.
- Tell me about your experience with people management.
- How do you handle working in restaurants?
