First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mirati Therapeutics.
Medical Director
So there were a bunch of panel interviews, each with a different person, and then also some separate one-on-one chats. They asked me about my past experience and how I've handled working in a matrixed setup with both internal folks and CROs. I spoke with the hiring manager, the whole clinical team, and also some people from stats and operations.
- Can you describe your previous experience in developing strategies for the late-stage development of small molecule assets?
Director
I had a phone interview after submitting my CV, and it went well with a nice team. Then there was a panel interview with people from different departments. Everyone on the panel was professional and friendly, and it was easy to chat with them.
- Do you want to relocate to San Diego?
Director
Had phone/Zoom screens with the recruiter/HR and the hiring manager initially. Then, went through two more Zoom screens. The process concluded with a "Zoom onsite" featuring several interviewers. The HR/Recruiter seemed distracted and scatterbrained. The hiring manager used the wrong name twice. Additionally, one interviewer ghosted me and expected me to rearrange my work schedule at the last minute to accommodate them the next day. Seriously, get it together folks—are you always this completely mismanaged?
- Mirati represents a significant advancement in your career. Do you feel ready for it?
Manager
First interview was with the hiring manager, then I had a 30-minute session with different functional team members which took the whole day. Some members were very professional in their skills and interview. Some were the total opposite and seemed unprepared for the interview and showed no interest in the interview process. I consider it a waste of my time as there was no offer. However, it's still an interesting small company.
- Can you introduce yourself and what challenges you've faced?
- Can you tell me about the startup process?
