Creative Director
The interview process was unprofessional from start to finish, leading to ghosting after an awkward interview. On the plus side, the job itself seemed interesting and fit my background, and scheduling was easy. However, I got a weird AI-looking LinkedIn message instead of a professional email. The interviewer was 10 minutes late for the video call, asked really basic, cold questions, and the whole thing felt awkward even with my 8+ years in the field. Afterwards, there was absolutely no follow-up, no feedback, not even a polite email. It was strange because I saw the same job posted again a month later, which really confirmed my feeling about the poor communication and unprofessionalism. My advice for management is to communicate better with candidates, make sure interviewers are on time and ready, and at least send a courtesy follow-up. If you repost the job, consider giving feedback to those who took the time.
- Can you describe your approach to managing a creative team?
Customer Support Representative
The interview kicked off with the company owner, who was really into how we handle deactivating and delegating user accounts. I explained how to do it through the console, but it seemed like he didn't quite get the software himself. He cut his part short for another meeting and passed me to HR and two IT guys. It was a bit messy getting handed over. The IT folks were mostly quiet, with one trying to help but not really answering my questions. The HR person ended up answering most things. A big red flag came up when the IT guy said they couldn't do anything if the owner shot it down, showing a lack of independence for IT projects. Then HR asked if I could handle software implementation, but that's usually a system admin job, and they don't have one. Their IT team is just a networking person and a help desk tech, which isn't enough for what they need IT to do. Basically, the IT department seems disorganized and lacks the right people and authority for the job.
- How would you go about deactivating and delegating a user's account once they are no longer with the company?
Editor-In-Chief
After applying, I first had to complete a culture index assessment within 24 hours, which felt like a personality test. About a week later, I got an email saying they were interested and invited me to a 15-minute pre-screen interview. This interview actually ran about 25 minutes and felt more like a full interview than a pre-screen. Then, I had to do another timed assessment, under 30 minutes. The first part was number-based and confusing, with about 16 questions in 10 minutes. The second part was verbal reasoning, which was easier. The last part was all about SEO, so definitely brush up on that if you're not familiar. A week after that, I got an email saying I passed and was invited to a 30-minute interview the following Wednesday. However, on Wednesday morning, I received an email saying they decided to move forward with other candidates. I emailed the recruiter asking for clarification, and they said they'd figure it out and suggested a quick sync anyway. I never heard back, so I joined the scheduled virtual meeting at 2 PM. Nobody showed up for 15 minutes. I emailed the recruiter again, and they claimed a cancellation notice was sent, which I never received. They also reiterated they were moving forward with other candidates.
- Can you share your background and experience, and explain why you're interested in this role?
- What is your current employment situation and what led to your departure?
- Could you describe a successful SEO campaign you managed?
Project Manager
The process was really smooth and felt very supportive. They got back to me super fast after I applied with a personalized message, which was a great start. They kept me in the loop the whole way, always letting me know what was happening and giving me advice. Anytime I had a question, they were right there to help, so I always felt like I knew what was going on and was ready for whatever came next.
- What kind of work environment do you thrive in?
