The interview process started with a friendly 15-20 minute chat with HR, which quickly led to a second interview. This technical interview, lasting about 1.5 hours, was with the team lead and a QA lead who had moved into a project role. They were specifically looking for a senior automation engineer to take over some of her duties. The next day, I received a take-home assignment with a 3-day deadline, which I completed and submitted in 2 days. It took them 10 days to review my submission. The HR rep was helpful in following up, but the manager who reviewed the task was slow to respond. Finally, HR called to say they didn't like my solution, mentioning issues with test order, make usage, and Docker setup, but without providing detailed or constructive feedback, and I wasn't given a chance to discuss my choices. HR just read out the manager's summary. It felt one-sided and lacked transparency, and I was disappointed as I'd put a lot of time into the task and would have liked to discuss my reasoning. While HR was supportive, the overall process suggested that candidate time and communication aren't highly valued, especially regarding technical assessments.

After completing a home assignment, the next day I had an interview. Later that evening, I was unexpectedly told I needed to give a presentation, which wasn't communicated beforehand. During the interview, they surprisingly gave me an additional dataset and asked me to analyze it and recommend solutions on the spot, which felt overwhelming. My recruiter wasn't aware of this interview process, and there was no prior communication. Ultimately, I was informed I wasn't successful. Be cautious when applying to or working for companies that engage in such 'cheeky' practices.
