First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Minto Group.
Accountant
First, the recruiter told me about Minto and what they do in Canada and the US. Then they asked about my work history, if I've used ERP systems, accounting software, and how good I am with Excel.
- Can you describe your accounting work experience?
- Which ERP systems are you familiar with?
- Could you elaborate on your Excel skills and their application in accounting?
Warranty Administrator
I had an initial phone screening, and then I interviewed with the warranty manager on site. The phone screening was basic questions about why I was interested, pay expectations, what they offer, etc. The interview with the manager asked more details about my experience.
- Why do you want to work here?
- What makes you a good fit for this role?
- How do you cope with pressure?
Financial Analyst
So the entire thing took about two months from when I applied online to getting the offer. First, I had a quick chat with HR over the phone, mostly talking about my resume. It was pretty chill, no curveballs. Since I wasn't in Toronto, they set up two interviews over Skype. These were more technical, with senior people. They mainly asked about my experience to see if I could handle the work. Then came a case study, which wasn't super hard but was pretty cool and felt like real tasks. The last part was an in-person interview in Toronto. They flew me out and booked my hotel. It was a good chance to learn more about Minto Group. Not long after that and checking my references, I got the offer and accepted. All in all, it was a really good experience, and I got a great feel for the company during the interviews.

Customer Care Representative
I had a bunch of interviews that felt like a waste of time. First, I spoke with HR over the phone. It went well, and they said they were really interested. Then, they asked me to come in for an in-person interview. During this interview, after asking some new questions, the HR person mentioned they had already asked most of what they needed during the phone call. We chatted a bit, and I met the person I'd be replacing. We talked, and I found out I had 5 years more experience and knew more about construction than she did. A few days later, I got another call from a different HR person asking me to interview with the executive I'd report to. This interview covered a lot of the same ground as the first phone interview. Honestly, the executive's tone felt a bit condescending, especially when they asked if I could write emails, even though it's on my resume that I worked as a professional writer. About a day after that third interview, I sent a thank you note to my main HR contact. It took nearly 3 weeks to hear back, and they told me they'd hired someone else.
