First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Minnesota Power.
Software Engineer
So I had an online interview set up. We hopped on right on time. It was a pretty standard interview. They gave me a rundown of the company and then asked me some stuff about my personality and how I'd handle different scenarios. After that, they hit me with some technical questions.
- Can you explain your time management strategies?
- What strategies do you use for managing your time effectively?
- How do you approach time management?
Electrician
It was a really professional interview. They had it all planned out and each person on the team asked a question. Most of the questions were about the job itself. I was super nervous but once we got going, I felt pretty at ease. The whole thing went for more than an hour.
- Can you explain your interest in Minnesota Power?
Laborer
The hiring process took a really long time, I almost had to look for another job because I thought they forgot about me or weren't going to hire me. The interview itself focused a lot on my work ethic and safety. If you can show you're a hard worker and that you value safety, you have a good chance. I only had one interview.
- Tell me about your knowledge of basic safety.
- How would you describe your work ethic?
- Do you understand the importance of safety on the job?
Engineer
I applied online through Handshake and got an interview invite via email about 20 days later. The first interview was a behavioral one, and the panel seemed a bit strict. I didn't pass the first round, so I didn't get invited to the second interview, which was supposed to be a technical in-person interview.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Describe a challenging situation you encountered and how you overcame it.
- What makes you interested in working with us?
