First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Supervisor
Got an email saying I met the basic qualifications, then the hiring manager reached out to set up an interview. They gave me a few dates and times to pick from. After we picked a date, I got an email with more details about the interview and some papers.
- What are the strengths of the department, and where can it get better?
Diversity Recruiter
The recruiter emailed all ten candidates on the "to" line instead of the "bcc" line, which is a privacy violation. They used a "Spark Hire" one way interview software, but the software was not working and the recruiter was unable to resolve the issue. The interview process was never successfully completed, and the recruiter never responded. It was absolutely the most awkward and uncomfortable experience I have had with a recruiter.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Management Analyst
I applied and about a month later, I got an email asking if I wanted to interview. No initial phone screen or anything. I accepted, and then I was in front of a panel of 3 people. They were interviewing a bunch of other people for the same job over 2-3 days. It felt very impersonal and dry.
- What is your motivation for this position and what are your goals for this role?
- Can you outline your objectives and goals for this specific role?
Grant Specialist
The company was very quick to respond with an interview invitation and a decision after the interview. The interview steps and questions were well-organized. The conversation was great. The staff were friendly and it would have been a good team to work with.
- How has your experience prepared you for this position?
