First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Minneapolis College.
Sales Associate
The interview seemed good. The supervisor asked several questions and I believe I performed adequately. We were still wearing masks due to COVID, and I brought my necessary documents. The store is preparing to reopen for students returning in the fall and requires staff to be ready to follow COVID-related instructions. Overall, it went well.
- Can you describe your past work experience?
Course Coordinator
I applied through the MN state website and got an email inviting me for an onsite interview. It was a one-hour panel interview with the main team members, and then a half-hour chat with the Dean. The whole experience was really good, everyone was super nice and welcoming. Even though I didn't get the offer, I got a nice letter from the Dean in the mail thanking me for my interest. I apply for so many jobs, so this feedback really stood out.
- Tell me about yourself and your experience.
Staff Position
I had a phone call, then an in-person interview with three people, followed by a second interview with a group of six. The first interview had pre-written questions, and the second was more conversational. The application process was confusing and took a really long time.
- What makes you want to join MCTC?
- Describe your approach to collaborating with individuals who are difficult to communicate with.
- Can you share your experience engaging with diverse populations?
Literacy Tutor
Had a Zoom call with 4 people from the team, and then an in-person interview with 3 more people. Everyone was really nice and engaged, especially in the first meeting. The second interview also felt like it went well. Even though it went well, I didn't get the job, and I'm pretty sure they already had someone in mind internally from the start.
- Can you share an instance of a failure you experienced in your previous role?
