Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ministry of Manpower.
Intern
First, there was an online essay test. Then, they called back the ones who did well and offered them an interview with the directors and DDs. In the interview, they asked more about what was on the resume.
- Have you ever prototyped a product before?
Intern
We had a group interview with 4 people. They talked about the team and work, then we were put into pairs to solve a scenario-based question. After that, we had a 10-minute presentation. The team was really nice and easy to talk to.
- How would you design a plan to encourage team bonding given work from home arrangements?
Intern
I applied through the form.gov website. The application was simple, asking about my availability dates, my reasons for applying, and for supporting documents like my resume and cover letter. I was shortlisted for an interview with their AD and Senior AD in less than a week. The problem is they were hiring for a different period than the one I specified in my application, which suggests they didn't fully read it. This mismatch in availability made it difficult to figure out how the interview should proceed and affected the whole conversation. The interviewers also seemed more interested in what my current company does rather than my own role or past experiences.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain your motivation for applying?
- What is your period of availability?
- Could you tell us more about your current company?
