First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Minerva Project.
Software Engineer
Had a call with a Senior Engineer where we talked about past experiences and trade-off design decisions I've made. Also asked how to optimize a slow product. Then I had a take-home assessment where I had to build an implementation of a game, with given test cases and detailed instructions. That was it for me.
- Could you describe some of your past experiences?
- Tell me about some trade-off design decisions you made in the past.
- How would you go about optimizing a slow product?
Marketing Manager
I applied and a week later got an email asking to schedule a phone interview. It felt like a mass email. The phone interview was okay, but the interviewer used 'like' a lot and wasn't clear about what they were looking for. I was asked to do a small assignment, which I sent in a few days later. After waiting over three weeks with no response, I followed up. Still no response. Another 2.5 weeks later, I sent another follow-up, which then got me an automated rejection email. It took seven weeks total for them to tell me they were moving on with others, even after I interviewed and did work for them. It wasn't a great experience.
- What do you look for in a workplace?
- How would you handle a situation where multiple people presented you with items that are at P1?
Front-End Developer
The interview process with Minerva was a bit chaotic. The people there seemed really busy, leading to frequent rescheduling of calls and screens. But, once I got to the on-site interview, it was smooth sailing. Everyone was super nice and seemed really prepared.
- How would you tackle a UI design challenge?
- Show me how you'd construct a web layout.
- What parts of our website could use UI enhancements?
UX Designer
Had a phone interview first that really dug into my portfolio and past work. Then, I got a take-home assignment which was pretty much Google's UI kit, but with a tough prompt to design a whole web app. Finished it, and then got ghosted for two weeks before a rejection email. They didn't even review my project.
- What's your definition of success when it comes to your designs?
