The interview process was pretty standard until the third interview, which was with Mindshare & NEO. It started with a normal phone screen that went well. Then, I had a meeting with two directors, which also went fine. The third interview got a bit strange. I had a one-hour slot, but the director I met with asked the exact same questions as the previous two directors. It seemed like they hadn't coordinated. After about 30 minutes, the director had to leave for another meeting, even though I still had questions and time left. I only managed to ask two questions with very brief answers before they had to go. This made me think they double-booked themselves and weren't really interested in my questions. I tried to brush it off, thinking they were just busy. After that, they asked for references, which seemed like good news. Two of my references confirmed they'd sent theirs back. However, the third reference contacted me, quite appalled by the request, and I told them it was okay to decline. The hiring coordinator reached out about this, and I offered to provide another reference. They asked for a reference from the last two years, but I've been in my current role for four years, meaning I'd have to ask a current colleague and potentially expose my job search. They then said they were very interested and excited to make an offer, so I provided a fourth reference from my current team. A few days later, a hiring manager contacted me, mentioning they were going on vacation for two weeks but would be in touch upon their return, reiterating that all references were glowing. Three weeks after their return, they emailed to say they weren't moving forward and had filled the position internally. This was the worst interview experience because I had to expose my current job search, especially after they requested a more recent reference. Beware of Mindshare & NEO!
