First, there was a screening round with a questionnaire and a small problem. Then, phone interviews came up where they might ask about your background, skills, some technical stuff, and basic behavioral questions. After that, a more technical interview focused on Python.
- Can you describe your previous experience with modeling?
Systems Developer
Had an initial phone screening, then a phone interview where we talked salary and they mentioned they couldn't pay market rate. After that, there was a group phone interview, followed by a full day on site. The on site involved talking to several people, covering technical skills, baseball knowledge, and general work habits. They gave me a brief design problem to solve. They said I'd hear back in about two weeks, but after I followed up, I didn't get any updates for 5 weeks. Then, a short email said I wasn't hired.
- Were the baseball questions more challenging than you anticipated? If you're not directly involved in team operations, ensure you're a dedicated Brewers and baseball enthusiast.

I was asked to do a questionnaire that was unpaid and took a lot of time, to show my stats skills. The problem is, they rejected me without ever talking to me. If you give out questionnaires, you should at least talk to people. It should be screening calls first, then the questionnaire, then interview calls, not questionnaire -> screening -> interviews. Show some respect and don't waste people's time.
- From a shuffled deck of cards, what's the probability the first ace appears on the 10th card flipped?
- Considering player WAR distributions and performance noise, what proportion of players performing above 0 WAR truly have a WAR above 0?
Marketing
Super fast process. They ask basic behavioral questions. You’ll also be asked about your interest in the role. The interviewers were really nice and easy to chat with. Make sure you do your research on their projects and initiatives.
- Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
- What specifically draws you to this particular role?
- Describe a challenging situation you encountered and how you managed it.
