I had an initial screen with the Director of the Cincinnati and Boston divisions via Zoom. The chat went well and I moved on to a second interview with the local team, also over Zoom. I thought this chat also went well, but then I heard nothing for a month. After two weeks, I tried to contact the Director I spoke with, but got no reply. I waited another two weeks and then contacted the local team, who seemed surprised I hadn't gotten any news. They told me I wasn't selected for the job. It's one thing to decide I'm not the right candidate, but it's another to ghost me, and probably many others, for at least a month. That's unacceptable and disrespectful.

I applied online and heard back really fast from the Director of the Cincinnati and Boston Divisions. They seemed super enthusiastic. I had a phone interview with them, and then soon after, I zoomed with the Executive Producer from their Covington team. Both chats felt like they were really eager to hire me, even talking about different roles they thought I'd be good for. Then, I had a third interview over Zoom with some folks from their Covington team, and that seemed to go well. After that third interview, though, it went totally silent. I never heard back, didn't get a formal rejection, and my follow-up emails got no response. It's a bummer not to get the job, but it's weird how all the communication just stopped, especially with all the excitement at the start and the talk of multiple positions.

I applied for the Resource Coordinator position at Mills James because I've been interested in the company for a while and it's in my home state. I have eight years of experience in live events, including five years as a Tour Manager and Project/Production Manager. The interview process involved two rounds: the first with the Senior Operations Manager and the second with the Director of Event Operations. Both interviews were positive and encouraging. Despite noticing some issues like a broken HVAC system causing extreme cold in the office, I was still enthusiastic about the role. After the second interview, the Director of Event Operations emailed me an offer, including a start date and hourly rate. I accepted this offer and made significant life changes, such as transferring my child to a new daycare and declining another job offer. However, communication stopped after the initial offer email. After several weeks of trying to reach them, I spoke with a Client Services Supervisor who explained the Director had a family emergency. I respected that and waited. After 21 days without contact, I received an email from the Director stating they decided to go with another candidate and that the original offer was just to 'begin negotiations.' This was shocking and felt misleading, especially since I had already made life-altering decisions based on what I believed was a firm offer. It seems like the communication was mishandled, or I was intentionally misled. This experience has negatively impacted my perception of Mills James and their leadership practices.

The interview was super chill and easygoing. We had some good chats, and they answered all my questions with helpful info. I'd tell people to go for it if they want a job in this area, as you learn a lot about the gig and the company.
