First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Miki Travel.
Credit Controller
I applied for the role and got a call from the recruiter the same day, but they didn't provide a job description or much info about the role. I was put forward and interviewed for the role at an agreed salary. Stage 1 happened via Teams, it was a 30-minute informal chat and went fine. Stage 2 was the opposite. An extra person joined who was really cold and asked irrelevant questions, plus personal questions about my family. I got a judgmental vibe. The first interviewer seemed intimidated by the new person and was pandering, which was off-putting. I was offered the job, but it was £3k less than expected. When I asked to think about it, they retracted the offer. The low-ball offer was less than my current salary, which I found inappropriate and unkind. I feel like I dodged a bullet. They only offer use of a swimming pool, which isn't much of a benefit compared to other companies. They didn't seem to value my 10+ years of experience in Credit Control, which is their loss. Their salary is flat with no movement or bonus. I wouldn't recommend this business. Get the salary agreed upon in writing to avoid bait and switch. It was a waste of time. The office is in a nice building, but in the basement with no natural light or fresh air, which is probably why it's only 2 days in the office.

Office Administrator
CV short list, followed by a conversation. The interviewers were pleasant and asked interesting questions. They seemed genuinely interested in my experience and listened well to my responses. A lot of the questions focused on my skills and experience, and what I could contribute to the company.
- Can you share detailed insights into your experience and skills?
- What contributions can you make to our company?
Group Reservations Consultant
It started with a telephone interview where they asked me why I wanted to work for them and change jobs, and to tell them about myself. Then there were two assessments: the first was simple, with spelling and calculation questions, and reading comprehension. The second was harder, involving making group reservations and stressing the importance of details and careful reading. After that, I had a 2-hour formal interview covering my background, reasons for wanting the job, how my past experience would be relevant, what I didn't like about my current job (like admin or dealing with complaints), my expectations for this role, why they should hire me, and how I'd handle a hotel booking issue last minute. They also asked about the booking process from sales offer to quotation. Finally, I had another interview with a manager that covered all the same topics.
- Why do you want to work with us?
- Why do you want to change jobs?
- Can you tell me something about yourself?
Senior Software Engineer
It was a 1-hour interview where we had a detailed discussion about my past projects and the reasoning behind my technology choices in specific situations. Then, I was presented with scenarios involving data and scale, and asked how I would address them. We also discussed my experience with cloud technologies.
- Can you tell me about your previous projects in detail?
- Explain your rationale for selecting specific technologies for past projects.
- Describe how you would handle challenges related to data and scalability.
