First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Midwestern State.
Assistant Professor
The interview process was efficient and pleasant. It included an on-campus interview where I gave a presentation to the students. I also had meetings with department staff and the department chair.
- Can you describe your approach to teaching?
Admissions Counselor
They asked for a written example and also a presentation (PowerPoint) in front of several people within the interview. The interviewers hosted a roundtable of questions to determine my experience.
- Are you okay with traveling overnight for this job?
Librarian
HR starts with a screening process using a template to filter candidates who meet the minimum requirements for the librarian role. Then, a selection of librarians, including the library director, reviews these candidates to decide who is worth a phone interview. The phone interview is as crucial as the in-person one; candidates who seem indifferent or unenthusiastic might not get invited for a face-to-face interview.
- For tech-focused roles, we ask detailed questions about your technical abilities.
- Be prepared to openly discuss your technical skills and knowledge.
- It's best not to pretend you know something you don't, as we don't have time for games.
Graduate Assistant
While I was pursuing my master's degree, I performed well academically and got selected as a graduate assistant for the department. It wasn't a difficult interview, mostly focused on academic performance and involvement in departmental activities.
- What are your goals?
