First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.
Physician Assistant
During the interview, I was told many things that turned out not to be true. It felt like a predatory environment, a place that hires new graduates without proper support, leading to high turnover. The compensation didn't align with the responsibilities of the role, and there were no bonuses based on production or RVUs.
- Could you describe your experience level?
Physician Assistant
Applied and got a quick call back for a phone interview within days. The interview was scheduled easily using their online system, with options to reschedule. The recruiter didn't seem to know much about PA specific duties, only a general idea of the role. Communication was also not great; I sent a follow up after a week and only heard back almost another week later, with a "sorry we were busy" explanation. They said they were still deciding, but it's been two weeks now with no word on whether the position has been filled.
- Describe a situation where you had to manage a challenging or upset patient and the steps you took.
Registered Nurse
I had a phone screen with HR Talent Acquisition first. Then, I had a face-to-face interview scheduled with the Director of Operations and a Physician from the team I would be joining. On the day of the interview, the DOO decided not to meet with me. The interview with the Physician was about 45 minutes and it went well. I also interviewed with another RN from a different team, who was there instead of the DOO. This helped me understand the day-to-day operations of the position.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle a difficult patient and explain your response?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- What drives you in your work?
Medical Secretary
The interview was on time and organized. They'll give you a quick rundown of the workplace and training. Then, they'll ask about your past job experience and how it fits the current opening. This is only Part 1; you'll be scheduled for another interview if selected. I haven't finished the second part yet, so no offer has been made.
- What is your biggest area for improvement?
