First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MidPen Housing.
Program Manager
I applied online and within 2 days received an email requesting to schedule a phone screening/interview. I replied within a couple of hours to schedule a time. Unfortunately, it was 2-3 days later that I received a response to which none of the times were applicable since it was for that week (as requested). I then replied again within an hour with a list of dates/times for the following week. That was on 3/19/2025, I had NOT received any response until I emailed the individual and told her that I assumed the position had been filled at this stage. She sent over a canned response which didn't acknowledge that she had never replied to me. Organization appears to not care much about the hiring process, has delayed responses, and does not seem to respect the timing of others.
- Could you let me know what dates and times you are available?
People Operations
I applied online and got a call back for a phone screen pretty quickly, just two days later. Things moved fast, because within two days after that, I had my first interview with the hiring manager and another team member. After that, they invited me to a panel interview with the rest of the team, and then a final chat with the CPO. I really liked the company's mission and thought the team was super passionate. MidPen Housing feels like a place that cares about its employees and values teamwork and making a difference. But, even after putting in all that time, I didn't get the job. I just wish they'd been clearer after the first round so I wouldn't have gone through those extra steps later. It was a good process, but it took a while and could have been more upfront about the hiring decisions.

- What skills do you have?
- What experiences have you had?
Community Manager
The interview process involved an initial phone call, followed by an in-person interview at Ginzton Terrace with two interviewers. The in-person interview was a very negative experience. I was not given a choice of when to interview. One interviewer spoke to the other in a sharp and aggressive manner. They called to confirm my arrival just 10 minutes before the interview, and upon arrival, I was seated outside while they were unprepared. It took about 30 minutes to get the necessary scorecard. They also double-booked my interview with a resident and didn't realize it until the resident arrived. During the interview, they frequently interrupted me and discussed my candidacy as if I wasn't present. The overall impression was highly unprofessional.
- Can you share an instance where you provided exceptional customer service?
Maintenance Technician
It started with a quick phone chat, then they set up a first interview for another day. The day after that, I had my second interview. The final part was at their main office for a computer test with multiple-choice technical questions. Then I had to write an email as if I was representing the company, asking someone to fix a problem quickly. The whole last part took about 2.5 hours.
- Could you outline the step-by-step process for arranging a room renovation?
- How would you handle interactions with difficult colleagues?
- What's your approach to managing vendor contracts?
