The interviewers were rude. At the end, they asked me what questions I had but then refused to answer any of them. This happened a few times. For example, when I asked why 5 people left the library team at the same time, I was told aggressively: 'Looking at your application, I can see that you are of a certain age'. They didn't explain anything else. I felt this was Ageist. I later found out from other people that the ones who left had taken early retirement.

The hiring process was really disappointing. After spending over 4 hours on the initial application answering questions about my skills and experience, I was shortlisted for an interview. The interview involved a presentation and a test. Although the staff seemed nice, the main issue was the complete lack of follow-up on the outcome. I received an email stating there would be a delay and an expected decision date, but I never heard back, even after sending three emails over a month later requesting feedback. A simple rejection email would have been appreciated after all the effort put into the application and presentation.

I started filling an application form on their website which was easy to use but quite lengthy. The deadline was extended which delayed this a further 2 weeks. I then received 2 following emails delaying the outcome a further 4 weeks. After that I get a call on a Thursday asking if I can attend an interview the coming Monday. During the interview management seemed apathetic, aloof & unengaged - bordering on rude. I was also asked to complete a presentation they had not shared the information for with me for.

The interview process was clear and straightforward, focusing on competency-based questions. The panel had a good sense of humor. They were looking for experience in teamwork, project management, participating in projects, planning skills, and troubleshooting. I used the STAR method to answer, and they asked follow-up questions after each response. Luckily, I didn't have to answer the 'where do you see yourself in 5 years' question.
