Tax Advisor
my interview experience was quite disappointing. the interviewer was overly focused on my current salary and made assumptions about my willingness to work on-site without even discussing the role or responsibilities first. it felt rushed and presumptive, lacking the professionalism and clarity I would expect from a hiring process.
- After briefly asking about my work experience, could you tell me about your current salary and the benefits you receive from your current employer?
- After briefly asking about my work experience, were you amenable to working on-site, immediately after mentioning the shift schedule and office location?
- These questions were asked without any prior discussion of the job description, compensation, or benefits associated with the role I was applying for.
Instructional Designer
The recruiter seemed unprofessional and in a hurry during the initial screening. They talked really fast, like they were eager to wrap things up. A few times, they cut me off without a good reason, which made it hard to finish my thoughts. It felt like they weren't really listening and just wanted to get it done. This was a bit of a letdown, especially coming from someone in a senior recruiting role.
- Can you tell me about your background with [name] company, including your previous roles and what you were responsible for?
Python Developer
My initial interview was with a recruiter who seemed really uninterested and spoke very slowly, with a lot of distracting background noise. This really threw me off. She basically dismissed my experience as not enough for a senior role just because my resume was one page, which wasn't true. She even suggested I should aim lower instead of for a senior position. On top of that, she made a comment comparing Koreans' English skills to native American speakers, which was rude and felt like a personal judgment rather than an evaluation of my technical skills. It was a pretty negative experience, especially the part where she judged me personally.
- Could you perhaps work on improving your English speaking skills?
Accountant
I applied for an Accountant role at Microsourcing's MOA location. D-1: Submitted application via Jobstreet, which redirected to the company site. D-2: HR prompted me to schedule an interview for the next day. D-3: Attended the HR interview, conducted entirely in English. They asked about my resume details, confirming the position, my technical skills, current location, willingness to work on-site, and commute time. They also inquired about my previous role and responsibilities, and any activities during resume gaps. Salary expectations were discussed, along with availability for an early AU timeshift (6 am-3 pm) and potential need for nearby accommodation. I was informed about the client, project-based contract (1-3 years), and to await the client interview next week. D-10: Client interview at 7:30 am with the Operations Manager and Accounting Supervisor. They asked for an introduction, details about my previous role, activities during resume gaps, my interest in accounting, and commute time. They explained the early shift to match Australian timezones and holidays. I was reminded to prepare 3-4 questions for them. By 8:30 am, HR notified me of the client's job offer. At 10:00 am, HR sent a contingent offer letter. By 11:00 pm, I received forms for pre-employment and background checks, due within 48 hours, requiring 4-6 character references who would be contacted immediately. D-11: HR discussed the contingent offer details. D-12: HR scheduled my Pre-Employment Medical Examination. D-14: Underwent medical tests including CBC, Urinalysis, Fecalysis, and Chest X-ray, with specific attention to menstrual cycle timing for female applicants.
- Can you elaborate on your previous job responsibilities?
- Could you describe what you did in your last role?
