Computer Technician
The interview process wasn't really about the job itself, more about what you enjoy doing and what games you play. All the employees seemed to be friends with the manager and they'd hang out on weekends playing games. A lot of them didn't even have A+ certification. If you're a brown nose, you can get a job there.
- What video games do you play?
Computer Technician
Applied for a Computer Service tech role and was contacted a couple weeks later for an interview. The hiring manager, who strongly resembled the character from 'Falling Down,' administered an assessment test before proceeding. This test consisted of basic, IQ-test-like questions, unrelated to computer knowledge or customer service. Upon completion, the manager indicated I 'barely passed' and questioned my low score, making me feel unintelligent. He then asked some general questions about my job interest and my computer knowledge. He specifically inquired about my A+ certification, despite it being noted as a 'plus' and not a requirement on my application. I explained I was studying for it, and he advised me to call back after obtaining the certification, suggesting he'd likely hire me then. I obtained the A+ certification two weeks later and accepted a better-paying job closer to home, deciding against working with this manager.
- How would you manage a customer who is upset?
Computer Technician
It was a group interview with about 10-15 people, and they paired us up. First, we had a few minutes to get to know our partner and talk about ourselves. Then, we had to introduce our partner to everyone and give a quick summary of what we learned about them, and they did the same for us. After that, each group had to answer 3 random questions about work environment scenarios. I personally prefer 1-on-1 interviews because I don't do well in front of crowds, but it was a cool experience otherwise.
- What questions would you ask a customer looking to buy a laptop?
