Behavioral Technical Other

The interview process involved a phone interview, an in-person interview, and an aptitude test. It seemed to go okay initially, but there were delays in responses. I noticed more men were employed there than women, and I wondered if my resume, which highlighted my retail, management, CSR, and merchandising background, was the best it could be. The process seemed smooth for a bit, and a second manager offered me a role, which I accepted. However, after I took my test, I was ghosted with no response. I assumed I was rejected, possibly due to the test, but I'm not sure. I went into the store to check, and the manager who initially offered me the job seemed uncomfortable with my presence, making me feel a bit unwanted. This left a strange impression; perhaps it was because they don't have a phone and felt put on the spot? It dampened my previous positive shopping experiences and I felt judged, with the manager's discomfort. I don't know if they found me offensive or just didn't want to hire a woman then, but being ghosted was unwelcoming. I'm a customer too, and a normal rejection would have been more polite.

Presentation Group Other

You'll start with a group interview. First, you'll be paired up with another person and give a presentation about them, kind of like advertising them. Second, you'll be in groups of three to answer questions about how to serve the customer and the store, and what things CSRs ask you about at the front. Be very talkative and contribute to the group discussion. Make sure to offer to answer the bonus question! Third, there will be two assessments. The first is a corporate-style assessment with questions like, 'If a family member took 5 dollars from a cash register, would you report them?' Answer these as if your supervisor is watching. The second assessment is a stress test where you need to answer as many questions as you can, correctly. They don't expect you to finish all 50, but aim for about 30-40 correct answers. These questions are a mix of math and other hypothetical scenarios.

Behavioral Other

I first applied to be a salesperson and spoke with the sales manager. He was nice, but I learned the sales position was mostly commission-based. He wanted to set up another interview with a second manager, which I agreed to. After that meeting, I asked if there were other openings and learned they needed cashiers (CSRs). I then had an interview with the front-end manager, who also set me up with another appointment with the store manager. The store manager had me complete a drug test and fill out an online form detailing my work history for a background check. I was hired two days after finishing that.
