First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Michigan Mutual.
Business Development Manager
Had a few phone chats with the recruiter and the VP of sales, they talked about the role and checked if I fit. I put together a business plan and an action plan for the job. Then I went to the office for an in-person meeting and a look around the place. They kept me in the loop the whole time, very open about everything. Took a bit over a month from start to finish.
- Could you describe your experience with business acquisition?
- What's your background with outbound or cold call visits?
- Can you share examples of how you've contributed to business growth?
Applications Developer
There was an HR interview first, then a technical/fit/conceptual interview. The interview covered C#, SQL Server, and Angular (2+). The conceptual part was about design philosophy and approach, and the technical part involved relatively basic questions about SQL Server and C# design.
- What are your thoughts on designing SQL queries at a basic to intermediate level?
- Can you discuss some C# design principles?
- What is your experience with SQL Server design questions?
Corporate Trainer
There were 2 interviews, one over the phone and then one in person. The phone interview was mostly generic situational and personality type questions. The in person interview was with my direct supervisor and department manager. They asked me more job related questions and also some "what would I do in this scenario" type of questions.
- How do you handle difficult individuals, and can you share an example of when you encountered one?
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult person.
Mortgage Loan Closer
It was a 25-minute phone call. The interviewer was a bit harsh. When I asked about work-life balance, it seemed like they expect a lot of overtime. I haven't heard back, but I wouldn't take the job even if offered due to bad vibes.
- Are you open to working overtime?
