First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Michigan Humane.
Veterinary Technician
It was a 3-part interview. First, there was a phone interview, and then an in-person one. After that, they had me come in for a working interview to see what a typical day looks like.

Manager
Got a call within a week of applying and did a phone screen then. Then had two more interview rounds before getting the offer. The process was fast for me but I heard it's slower for other departments. It can take a few weeks to a few months sometimes.

Customer Service Representative
The interview process involved a phone interview, followed by an in-person meeting with two supervisors. To be considered for the customer service position, there are virtually no qualifications or prior experience needed, just a high school diploma. The entire process was quite lengthy, spanning nearly three weeks before an offer was extended, and then an additional two weeks passed before I could start after accepting.

Management
I applied through their website and it took two weeks for a recruiter to contact me. I left two voicemails with the call center about my application status but received no callbacks. When my phone screen was finally scheduled, the recruiter called me late. When she did call the next day, I pointed out the delay, and she became defensive, insisting I was mistaken. She was impolite throughout our conversation and I could hear her scoffing at my answers. It seemed like she wasn't familiar with the role and was just reading from a script without truly listening. Following this, I never heard back, even after I contacted the recruiter for an update. To be clear, I have extensive management experience in this industry and have encountered employees with poor attitudes. However, it's a major red flag when the initial point of contact for potential hires behaves this way, indicating a significant issue with accountability within the company.
- Can you describe your past experience?
- What are your thoughts on euthanasia?
