First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Michigan Democratic Party.
Director
I had two phone calls for this role, no video involved. The first call was pretty general, looking at how I handle problem solving, my basic skill set, and how I manage stress and projects. The second call got into the specifics of the job.
- Can you describe your task organization methods?
Field Organizer
Since it was during the pandemic, there were three phone interviews total. They asked really friendly and experience-based questions about organizing and my political views. The first call was about 20 minutes, and the second was with my direct supervisor, which was about an hour-long, and it was a laid-back conversation.
- How do you connect with those that have different political views than you?
Field Organizer
Had interviews with the field director, deputy field director, and regional field director. It felt more like a vibe check than anything super rigorous. The interviews were pretty long, but not overly challenging. The main thing is just to be relaxed.
- What's your approach to handling a volunteer who is proving difficult?
Field Organizer
After applying and getting an invite, I had two phone interviews. One was with the Training Director and the other was with a Regional Organizing Director.
- What motivates you to want to join this organization?
