& Process

I applied and a recruiter reached out. It took about 2 weeks. First, there was a technical phone screen, then an on-site interview. The first interview was about 30 minutes where I introduced myself and the manager asked about my technical skills. On the same day as the phone interview, I got invited for the on-site. The on-site took about 3 hours. I met with people one by one, and they asked questions related to their work. They asked some quick technical questions that could be answered in a couple of minutes. They made a decision the same week after the on-site with some feedback.

I was contacted by a recruiter and then had an on-site interview. It felt like another company that just cares about paper certificates. The interviewer had a bunch of useless acronyms after his name, but it seemed like he had no real engineering experience beyond pieces of paper. Certifications are good, but they can't replace real-world experience, and having only the paper makes you a disgrace to the security industry.

I applied through hiring email sent to the program director from the hiring manager and had an on-site interview. I was interviewed by 4 groups of people. First, an Associate told me about what they are doing and showed me some excel, then asked if I can do VLookups and Pivot Tables. Second, an analyst in a technical position discussed VBA and programming languages and database experience with me. Third, 3 analysts in actuarial position went through my resume and discussed the courses I took in the actuarial program. Fourth, a manager had a casual talk and told me about what he was doing.

The interview process was intense and comprehensive, but in a good way. They had me come in for a half-day to meet with different people. I'm a bit bummed I didn't hear back after putting in that much effort. Looks like they're after a really specific type of candidate. Hope they find them!
